A few weeks ago in our poll, we asked the question, to which decade and sport would you return? If you had a time machine, what sports epoch was the best? The winner, not surprising to me, was skiing in the 1970s. I mean, really, what wasn’t there to love, what with the stretch pants and bellbottoms, moustaches and long middle-parted hair on girls, the nascent powder culture? And Aspen, always Aspen.

With its new film, Valhalla, Sweetgrass is clearly channeling that era, when psychedelic energy and a mellow red-wine glow combined to create the perfect mid-range perma-buzz. This teaser is groovy, creative, tender, and rooted in the past yet blossoming in the future. Just watch it. You’ll be glad you did.
