Searching For Waves Along a Frigid Freshwater Coast

It’s hard to explain why it is, but we’ll always be fascinated by Great Lakes surfing. It’s not the novelty, because there are legitimate quality waves in the lakes. It’s not the weather, because people surf in snow in oceans around the world. Could be that it’s like an alternate universe to ocean surfing. Freshwater seems to behave different, the waves look different somehow. Or that move a mile or two from the lakes and the idea of surfing seems as foreign as it would in the middle of the Sahara. Anyway, we love this short film about searching for surf in the Midwest.
