In West Texas, a Writer’s Studio Meets Hunter’s Blind
450 square feet and largely invisible unless you approach from above, the Clear Rock Lookout is a rare hybridโa hunter’s blind and a writer’s studio all in one elegant, modern, steel construction. Of course, one wouldn’t have to hunt there, merely observing from the deck would be a fine way to lose an afternoon or two. Designed by Lemmo Architecture and Design, the studio’s West Texas site was chosen by the owner who’d carefully mapped most of the surrounding land and frequently set up shop at that limestone cliff to look for deer below. Hemingway would approve.
Weekend Cabin isnโt necessarily about the weekend, or cabins. Itโs about the longing for a sense of place, for shelter set in a landscapeโฆfor something that speaks to refuge and distance from the everyday. Nostalgic and wistful, itโs about how people create structure in ways to consider the earth and sky and their place in them. Itโs not concerned with ownership or real estate, but what people build to fulfill their dreams of escape. The very time-shortened notion of โweekendโ reminds that itโs a temporary respite.
