The Immediate Present of Art and Being in Nature

Artist Alex Katz is trying to access the “immediate present” in his work, whether painting, sculpture, or simply the work of being. Clearly, this is the same immediate present we experience when in the presence of nature, when the rest of the world falls completely away, and our senses sharpen.
