Caroline Gleich Aims to Go From Mount Everest to the US Senate
Six weeks before she was due to leave for Tibet and attempt to climb the north face of Mount Everest, athlete/activist Caroline Gleich tore her anterior cruciate ligament. She’d spent many months raising money for the expedition, but couldn’t afford trip insurance, which cost $10,000. So, she went to Everest anyway, girded herself for the ascent, and, with an unstable knee, started climbing.

Today, Gleich faces perhaps an even bigger challenge: Running to be Utah’s Democratic nominee for the Senate seat vacated by the retiring Mitt Romney and then, in the general election in November, winning that seat and bringing the experience of a diehard adventurer to Washington.

The Adventure Journal Podcast sat down with Gleich to learn why she launched this audacious bidโand what she’ll do if she pulls it off. You can listen on Spotify, Apple, wherever you get your podcasts, or watch on YouTube.
